The fifth graders have been working on equivalent fractions, relative magnitude (which fraction is greater?) and fraction/decimal equivalents. We've also reviewed factors, factorization and prime factorization as this supports the fraction work. We will be studying fraction addition, subtraction and multiplication over the next two weeks.
The Sixth graders have been studying operating with fractions on a deeper level. Building models and diagrams of fraction division has been the focus for the past few days. The students have been learning these operations by solving real life problems.
